Cooking on CTV Ottawa’s News at Noon!
That’s our good friend Leanne Cusack sandwiched between her CJOH Noon News partners in crime! Leanne was the first person EVER to interview us on TV about our cookbook Looneyspoons back in 1996. Since then we’ve become the bestest of friends. We decided to head back to Ottawa, to Leanne’s show, to launch our brand-new cookbook The Looneyspoons Collection!! Follow this link to our 3 fun cooking segments, where you’ll also find the recipes we dished out with Leanne.

Hi Janet & Greta!
I am such a fan of all of your cookbooks and your tv show. Nearly all of my favourite recipes end up being from one of the three books. My copies are all very well-worn and well-loved!
I was so excited today while in Costco to discover your compilation cookbook. It absolutely made my day and I can hardly wait to go read it in bed tonight from cover to cover. It is so beautiful and the photography is incredible!
Thanks again for your incredible cookbooks full of delicious recipes that keep me inspired to feed my family healthy, nutritious food. It helps to have the funny names too… my kid just love what the recipes are called! I don’t think they’d believe a person if they called “Starvin’ Guy Chicken Pie” a plain old “Potpie”.
Sincerely,
Vanessa Schultz

Hi
I received a copy of the Looneyspoons collection as a Christmas gift from my husband. I was thrilled as I love to cook and entertain.
As I went through the cookbook I was quite entertained by the little tips, trivial bits and information provided along side the recipes themselves. This is sure a product of love by these sisters.
Speaking of sisters, I challenged myself to taking this year to try all 325 recipes. The main goal was simply to start eating better for myself and my family but also to encourage me to eat what I think I do not like….fish !!! Once I made this decision I discussed with my older sister Nicole (who is a great cook herself) who quickly decided that she would take on the challenged herself but we would do it jointly.
So we have started cooking and I am keeping a log of all the recipes we have tried with comments. I do believe many people around us will benefit from our challenge as there will always be a Looneyspoons recipes showing up at any family and friends gathering !!!
Janet and Greta thank you for your inspiration.
Now, if there is anyone else who would like to join us please let us know. Like I say the more the merrier.

Hi Kim,
Just getting back to you with an answer to your questions about fats and losing weight. It’s difficult for me to figure out why you haven’t been able to lose weight, since I don’t know your entire case and your lifestyle, genetics, habits, etc. As far as weight loss goes, it’s mostly the refined carbohydrates that prevent people from losing weight and help them gain fat…not necessarily eating fats. Sugar is a big culprit! Sugar and flour are converted to fat in the body very easily, so cookies, bread, muffins, cakes, cereals, pasta, crackers (even if the label says “fat-free”) are the kinds of foods to limit if you’re having trouble losing weight. There could be many other reasons (a thyroid condition, an allergy to gluten, etc.), but I find for most people, if they cut the sugar for a while (strictly), the fat melts away around the middle. Maybe you could try that for two weeks and see if you start noticing a difference.
As far as fats go, the bad ones are the processed, refined, “man-made” ones like trans fat (from fried foods and fast foods). We need fats to help us burn fat, though, and the good ones are omega-3’s from nuts and seeds and fish, olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil (helps to burn fat!) and even butter (in moderation). So just avoid the fried stuff and junk foods and you’ll avoid those bad trans fats. Hope this helps! -Janet

Hi ladies! I received your new cookbook for Christmas from a very smart Santa, and I have to say, I LOVE it! It is colourful, funny and most important, full of great recipes! I just made “Isn’t She Loafly” last night and it is better than the zucchini loaf my grandma made, which is saying a lot! Thank you for adding your great recipes to my cooking repertoire!

Lynne, the “old” Looneyspoons is out of print, but our new book, The Looneyspoons Collection, is way better anyway!!

Hello,
I love all of your cookbooks, just got the newest one for Christmas. Had a dinner party on Saturday, and everything was from the new book. The deviled eggs were the best I have EVER had, and the Caesar salad dressing was fantastic. I haven’t found a single recipe in any of the books that I haven’t liked.
I also love the tips in the new book, and I can honestly say it’s the only cookbook I have read cover to cover (my husband joked that I had my nose in the book for 3 days straight)
Thanks again
